Here are the nine traits we are looking for in a successful candidate for SCI. The successful candidate is:
1. Teachable and able to follow directions
- Being humble and teachable is the key to learning. Those who feel they “know-it-all” have stunted themselves in a great way. Leaders are known to recognize the need to consistently find others with traits they can learn from.
2. Passionate about prayer
- You do not need to be an expert to apply to SHIFT College of intercession. We are looking for lovers of Jesus, who love to partner with His heart through prayer.
3. A faithful Servant
- We look for applicants who are faithful to serve the expression of the family of God in their locales. We look for applicants who seek to remain faithful to the call of God on their lives no matter the obstacle.
4. One who lives out love
- One of our favorite mottos is to “love people to life”. This is what Jesus did practically before the cross and then exhibited in that historic moment. We embrace applicants who are pursuing ways to love people to life.
5. One who has strong English writing ability
- Because of the nature of the practicum-based learning, 50% of the work is in the written form of petitions. We are not looking for experts, however we do stress a strong writing ability in order to convey thoughts and prayers well.
6. One who desires to become more disciplined
- Being disciplined is what separates mere converts to Christ from disciples of Christ. The applicant may be one who struggles with discipline but still desires to grow in it so they may be more like Christ.
7. One who desires to increase in the prophetic to encourage others
- Maturity of the prophetic gifting is not mandatory for applicants however we look for applicants who have a desire to grow in this area in order to lift up others. 1Corinthians 14:1 says, “Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.”
8. Interested in partnering with God’s heart for the marketplace
- This is one of the founding passions in SHIFT, to uplift and support the marketplace leaders of our culture through prayer so that they can operate integrally and influence nations for God’s glory.
9. One who loves to grow
- We have another favorite motto that is “if you’re not growing, you’re dying.” Growing is an active choice that is practical and essential to life. We are constantly being transformed into His image 2Corinthians 3:18, this is real growth, and this is real life.
